My Lord,
We have the honour to refer to the correspondence ending with
Your Lordship’s predecessor’s Political despatch, No. 24, dated the 4th March
1904 regarding the application of the Indian Limitation Act, 1877 (XV of
1877) to the Persian Coast and Islands. This Act has been repealed by
Act IX of 1908, and our Political Resident A senior ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul General) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Residency. in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. recommends
that the latter he now extended to the said territories.
2. We support the recommendation and shall be glad if Your Lordship
will communicate to us the necessary order, under Article 7 (3), Part II, of
“The Persian Coast and Islands Order in Council A regulation issued by the sovereign of the United Kingdom on the advice of the Privy Council. , 1907 . We suggest that
the order should have effect from the 1st August 1910.
