With reference to Lord George Hamilton’s despatch No. 82 (Political),
No. 2810E..A., dated the 4th December 1903. dated the 18th September 1903, W6 have
the honour to forward, for your inform
ation, a copy of a Notification which has been issued in the Gazette of India,
applying the Indian Limitation Act, 1877 (XV of 1877), to the Persian Coast
and Islands.
2. It will he noticed that Lord George Hamilton authorised the applica
tion of the Act with effect from the 1st October 1903. The despatch, however,
did not reach us until after that date, and, as we did not consider it safe to bring
such an Act into operation retrospectively, we directed that the order should
have effect from the 1st January 1904. We trust our proceedings will meet
with your approval.
