About this record
- Content
The letter relates to incidents of slave trading on the Persian coast. It encloses an English translation of a note received from Sheikh Abdoollah the Acting Governor of Bushire, in reference to the incident of slave trading at Bushire (see ff 24-25). Samuel Hennell also reports on another incident of thirty-two male and female slaves shipped from Muscat to Bushire. Hennell writes that the owner of the vessel involved in this latest incident is closely connected with Sheikh Abdool Rahman, Governor of Karrak [Bandar-e Charak], and as a result of this association, Sheikh Abdoollah, the Acting Governor at Bushire, is unwilling to take any strong action.
