Part 5 consists of correspondence relating to a proposed survey of Western Persia by the Anglo-Persian Oil Company. The correspondence is mostly between the Government of India, Foreign Office, and India Office The department of the British Government to which the Government of India reported between 1858 and 1947. The successor to the Court of Directors. . Included as enclosures is correspondence from representatives of the Anglo-Persian Oil Company.

The papers cover the arrangements of the details of the survey, such as:
