FOREIGN JURISDICTION
The Aden Protectorate Order, 1937.
At the Court at Buckingham Palace, the 18th day of
March, 1937.
Present,
The King's Most Excellent Majesty in Council.
Whereas by treaty, grant, usage, sufferance and other lawful
means His Majesty has power and jurisdiction within the terri
tories known as the Protectorate of Aden :
And whereas it is expedient to make provision for the peace,
order, and good government of the Protectorate of Aden:
Now, therefore, His Majesty, by virtue and in exercise of
the powers by the Foreign Jurisdiction Act, 1890 , or otherwise
in His Majesty vested, is pleased, by and with the advice of His
Privy Council, to order, and it is hereby ordered, as follows: —
1. This Order may be cited as the Aden Protectorate Order,
1937-
2 . This Order shall apply to the territories of Arabia which are
bounded on the south by the Colony of Aden and the Gulf of
Aden, on the west and north by the Kingdom of the Yemen and
the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and on the east by the Sultanate
of Oman, and also to the Islands of Socotra and Abdul Quri and
any other islands adjacent to the said territories.
3. — ( 1 ) In this Order, unless the context otherwise requires—
“ His Majesty " includes His Majesty's heirs and
successors;
“ the Secretary of State " means one of His Majesty's
Principal Secretaries of State;
the Governor '' includes every person for the time being
administering the Government of the Colony of Aden;
“ the Colony " means the Colony of Aden;
“ the Protectorate " means the territories described in
section 2 of this Order;
