In accordance with the Royal Farman which you will have the honour to
peruse, the Government lands at Mohammerah, Jazirat-ul-Khidhar, Bahman-
shir and Karun, on which, from ancient times up to now, the Arabs and the
tribe and the tribesmen of Shaikh Khaz’al Khan Mu’izz-es-Saltaneh Sardar Leader of a tribe or a polity; also refers to a military rank or title given to a commander of an army or division. -i-
Arfa’ have grown date-palms and trees and constructed buildings and which
they have first caused to flourish, have been left and granted to him by us, as
perpetual property in this auspicious year Pars-il so that he may pay, every
year, the usual annual revenue of those places to the Governors of ’Arabistan
without a single additional cent, and he is permitted and empowered to dis
pose of those lands and localities the possessory rights of ownership of every
kind.
You, my noble son, should give effect to the purport and sense of the royal
Farman and of this august autograph. The Sardar Leader of a tribe or a polity; also refers to a military rank or title given to a commander of an army or division. -i-Arfa’ should remain at
ease and engage himself in rendering services by performing State affairs and
guarding the territory.

APPENDIX IX.
Copy of Farman granting Districts of Hindijan, Dehmulla and the lands
East of the Karun to Shaikh Khaz’al.

That, whereas the benignant and royal attention is always directed and
set upon the tranquillity of the towns, the ease of the people, and the enhance
ment of improvement and agriculture, therefore, in view of the good services
of His Excellency Shaikh Khaz’al Khan Mu’izz-es-Saltaneh Sardar Leader of a tribe or a polity; also refers to a military rank or title given to a commander of an army or division. -i-Arfa’
and of his forefathers and grandfathers, which are always under the royal
consideration, and (of the fact that) he has always delighted and pleased the
royal mind by his good services and complete straightforwardness (and) in
order to bestow kingly graces and royal favours we have, in this auspicious
year Pars-il left and granted to him, as perpetual property, the whole of Hin
dijan and Dehmulla, which are a part of his jurisdiction, together with the
lands on the East of Karun which are the place of his cultivation, so that he
may with the utmost hopefulness and extreme zeal busy himself in &ug-
menting the improvement of those two places and only pay the usual annual
revenue to the Highest Government. And the present and the future Gover
nors of Arabistan will not have the right to demand a single cent in addition
o the usual annual revenue, and the Sardar Leader of a tribe or a polity; also refers to a military rank or title given to a commander of an army or division. -i-Arfa’ also will not have the

Between folios 51-70, the volume contains a number of appendices including copies of various relevant agreements. On folios 69-70, the volume contains the Persian text of a concession granted to the Nasiri Company for running ships from Ahwaz to Shushtar.

The volume was compiled by Lieutenant Arnold Talbot Wilson, Acting Consul for 'Arabistan. The printing statement reads, 'Calcutta: Superintendent Government Printing, 1912'

The volume opens with a contents page (folio 4) followed by a prefatory note (folio 5), a list of relevant officials (folio 6), a schedule of appendices (folio 7), eleven chapters of text (folios 8-50) and ends with sixteen appendices (folios 51-70).
