Postcard showing a black-and-white photograph of the Dwarka (operated by the British India Steam Navigation Company Limited) at sea. The postcard was enclosed with a letter dated 1 November 1947, sent by the Bahrain office of the shipping agent Gray, Mackenzie & Company, to the Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. in Bahrain (f 56). The Dwarka entered service in 1947, and operated between the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. and India until 1982. The M.S. in the postcard’s caption stands for Motor Ship.
