A copy of a letter from Sir Harford Jones, British Envoy Extraordinary to Persia [Iran], to Isaac Morier, British Consul-General at Constantinople [Istanbul]. Jones states that he is enclosing copies of letters dated 15 December 1809 and a packet addressed to the Chairman and Secret Committee Pre-1784, the Committee responsible for protecting East India Company shipping. Post-1784, its main role was to transmit communications between the Board of Control and the Company's Indian governments on matters requiring secrecy. of the Court of Directors The London-based directors of the East India Company who dealt with the daily conduct of the Company's affairs. of the East India Company (not included in this item). Jones also states that 350,000 Constantinople piasters should be paid on the account mentioned in the enclosed letters to the bearer of the letter, Meerza Ameen [ Mīrzā A title of honour originally applied to princes, later to military leaders, and later still to secretaries, chieftains, and other ‘gentlemen’. Amīn], and that Morier should obtain a receipt for the money.
