Extract of a letter from HM Minister Plenipotentiary to the Porte [Ottoman Empire], Stratford Canning, to HM Envoy Extraordinary and Minister Plenipotentiary A diplomatic representative who ranks below an ambassador. The term can be shortened to 'envoy'. to Persia [Iran], Sir Harford Jones, of 2 August 1810. The letter encloses extracts of correspondence from Petersburgh [St Petersburg] concerning Jones’s efforts to frustrate Russian attempts to end the war with Persia (not included in this item), and also comments on the future course of the war.

The letter was enclosed in Jones’s Dispatch No. 26 of 14 September 1810, which was received on 6 February 1811.
