A copy of a letter from Henry Willock, HM Chargé d’Affaires in Persia [Iran], to John [or William] McCulloch, Secretary to the Political Department of the East India Company, sent from Tehran and dated 22 September 1824.
The letter forwards a private communication to Lord Howard de Walden, Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, for the attention of the Secret Committee Pre-1784, the Committee responsible for protecting East India Company shipping. Post-1784, its main role was to transmit communications between the Board of Control and the Company's Indian governments on matters requiring secrecy. of the Court of Directors The London-based directors of the East India Company who dealt with the daily conduct of the Company's affairs.
