Letter from HM Chargé d'Affaires to Persia [Iran], Henry Willock, in Tehran, to the Secret Committee Pre-1784, the Committee responsible for protecting East India Company shipping. Post-1784, its main role was to transmit communications between the Board of Control and the Company's Indian governments on matters requiring secrecy. of the East India Company, of 20 May 1826, which was received on 27 July 1826. The letter reports the arrival of the new East India Company Envoy to Persia, Lieutenant-Colonel John Macdonald Kinneir, at Bushire [Bushehr], and details the willingness of the Shah of Persia (Fath-‘Ali Shāh Qājār) and the Prince Royal of Persia [Crown Prince of Persia, 'Abbās Mīrzā Qājār] to pay 'every honour and attention' to Macdonald Kinneir. The letter originally enclosed a copy of a letter from Macdonald Kinneir to Willock announcing his arrival at Bushire (not included in this item, now catalogued as IOR/L/PS/9/70/85).
