Letter from HM Chargé d’Affaires to Persia [Iran], Henry Willock, in Tehran, to the Secret Committee Pre-1784, the Committee responsible for protecting East India Company shipping. Post-1784, its main role was to transmit communications between the Board of Control and the Company's Indian governments on matters requiring secrecy. of the East India Company, of 22 May 1826, which was received on 27 July 1826. The letter originally enclosed a copy of a letter from the Chief Secretary to the Supreme Government of India, George Swinton, to Willock (now catalogued as IOR/L/PS/9/70/90). Willock reports that he has communicated the contents of the enclosed letter to the Prince Royal of Persia [Crown Prince of Persia, 'Abbās Mīrzā Qājār], and indicates that he believes that the Prince Royal will respond via the new East India Company Envoy to Persia, Lieutenant-Colonel John Macdonald Kinneir.
