HIS Maiesty’s Charge d’Affaires presents his compliments to His Majesty s
Principal Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, and has the honour to transmit
herewith copy of a" report by the acting military attache on the subject of tribal
situation in Kurdistan.

Tribal Situation in Kurdistan.
IT is reported that on the 6th June a body of Kurds, estimated at some
500 strong and said to be under the leadership of the first of Jafar ^ulta
sons, descended upon the Malieh (Finance) Office at Paveh near Javanrud and
stole the sum of 7,000 tomans 10,000 Persian dinars, or a gold coin of that value. , as well as 5,000 tomans 10,000 Persian dinars, or a gold coin of that value. which were there
in connexion with the making of a new road. They also killed some fifteen
Amnieh (road guards) and took away a quantity of iood stmns-
On the 7th June one complete regiment left Kermanshah m commandeered
o transport for Pavah, while a further battalion went out on the 9th June. On
representations to Tehran for reinforcements, the Bahadur Regiment of the
1st Infantry Brigade of the Central Garrison was sent to Kermanshah and
arrived there on the 9th June. _ •
2. Later reports stated that there were signs of the unrest spreadi g.

commencement of May, was separated from his followers to °
Iraq territory, is reported to be contemplating joining the rebel Raids, and part
of the reinforcements from the capital have been sent to Kuh-i-Bamu to loca.e
and immobilise him and to detain the influential men in that district m oidei
to co^opeuig ^ p ersian re gular troops came into contact with the
rebels and in the engagement which followed twenty-five Government troops aie
reported to have been killed; the rebel casualties are not known.
4 A party of British and American travellers, however, proceeded thiough
this district between the 21st and 26th June without seeing signs of undue
military ^aetiv^y^^ j une a re p 0r t was received at Kermanshah that the raiders
had ‘ ak “;^e g e 22 nd I Tu q ne e a ifurther regiment the Fauj-LHamleh, arrived in
1 Kermanshah from Tehran and left the following day tor the Kuh-i-Bamu distnc ,
apparently to relieve the Fauj-i-Bahadur. ^ ^ TROTT,
