4. KUWAIT.
Kuwait was founded about the beginning of the eighteenth
century by settlers of the Utub, over whom the Subah family
enjoyed predominance, and grew rapidly in the first fifty
years of its existence.
The recorded history of British relations with Kuwait
opens in 1775, when, on the investment of Basra by the Persians
