This bundle consists of summaries, and partial transcripts, of secret letters received from HM Minister to Persia, Charles Augustus Murray (26 January, 13 and 15 February 1856, Numbers 18 and 23-25). The amount of detail for each entry therefore varies.

The main topics are the appointment of Meer Alum Khan to the post of ‘protecting the boundary of Herat’, and an assessment by Murray of the Government of Persia's ability to resist an attack from a British force sent from India.
