This bundle consists of summaries, and partial transcripts, of secret letters received from HM Consul at Tehran, Richard W Stevens (22-23 August 1856, Numbers 54-57). The amount of detail for each entry therefore varies.
The despatches briefly cover reports of Persian advances into Afghanistan, news of that a steam-powered cotton plant has commenced operation in Persia, and Stevens's suspicions that reports from Meshed [Mashhad].
