This file contains correspondence regarding the possibility of establishing a St John Ambulance training centre in the Gulf (in either Bahrain or Kuwait).

The file contains letters on the topic sent between Edward Birkbeck Wakefield, Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. in Bahrain and Major Tom Hickinbotham, Political Agent A mid-ranking political representative (equivalent to a Consul) from the diplomatic corps of the Government of India or one of its subordinate provincial governments, in charge of a Political Agency. in Kuwait, as well as a copy of a letter from the General Secretary of the St. John Ambulance Association in New Delhi to Dr A L Greenway, Kuwait.

The file also contains a copy of a pamphlet (folios published by the Joint War Organisation of the Indian Red Cross Society and St. John Ambulance Association (Indian Council) that is titled 'Indian Red Cross Welfare Service'. The pamphlet publicises the establishment of a Red Cross welfare service to be recruited from "British and Indian ladies" and contains details of recruitment, uniform and a sample application form.
