My dear Gibson,
Your letter of the 23rd February (P.Z. 1120/38).
I write to confirm that there is no objection on
the part of the Foreign Office to the Consulate at Muscat
being left vacant, as proposed, for three or four weeks
while Fowle and Watts come to London in connexion with the
contemplated discussions v/ith the Sultan of Muscat.

The successor to the Court of Directors. , the Government of India (External Affairs Department), the Government Hospitality Fund, the High Commissioner for India, Lord Linlithgow, Said bin Taimur [Sa‘īd ibn Taymūr Āl Bū Sa‘īd], the Sultan of Muscat and Oman, and Gordon Dalyell of the Binns (previously known as Gordon Loch). The correspondence concerns the need for a British Officer to accompany the Sultan of Muscat during his visit to the United Kingdom in March-April 1938 and the deputation of Dalyell for the task. Practical arrangements such as accommodation and pay are dealt with.
