Agreement by Sheikh Mubarek-bin-Subah, Chief of Koweit.
(Translation.)
I AGREE to absolutely prohibit the importation of arms into Koweit or
exportation therefrom, and to enforce this I have issued a notification and proclamation
to all concerned.
Dated this 24th day of Moharrum, 1318 (24th day of May, 1900).

Postal Agreement of February 28, 1904, icith the Sheikh of Koweit.

AS the British Government has agreed, in accordance with my desire and lor the
benefit of traders, to establish a post-office at Koweit, I, on my part, agree not to allow
the establishment here of a post-office by any other Government. I accordingly write
this undertaking cm behalf of myself and my successors. i a u n \

IN compliance with the request which, under instructions from your Government,
you were good enough to make to me on the 16th ultimo, I have the honour to transmit
to you herewith copies of the agreements concluded by His Majesty s Government
with the Trucial chiefs of Oman and the Sheikhs of Bahrein and Koweit, to which
reference is made in the memorandum communicated to your Highness on the -9th
JUl7 With respect to these agreements His Majesty’s Government have the following
observations to make :—
As regards No. 1, His Majesty’s Government have informed the Sheikh of Koweit
that so g as he aid his heirs and successors act up to their obligations under the

It contains the following: a convention concerning the establishment of a commission to improve the conditions of navigation from Shatt al-Arab; a list of lighthouses and buoys on Shatt al-Arab; a series of declarations concerning the question of the border that separates the Persian and Ottoman territories from the region of Haouizé [Hoveyzeh] to the sea, and navigation on the Tigris and Euphrates rivers; and agreements between the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs and the Grand Vizier of Ottoman Empire on Koueit [Kuwait], El Katr [Qatar], Bahreine [Bahrain], Golfe Persique [ Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. ], and the commission of delimitation.

It also includes translations of agreements with the Sheikh of Koweit [Shaikh of Kuwait] dated 1899, 1900, and 1904, on protecting British interests, along with correspondence between Edward Grey and Tewfik Pasha An Ottoman title used after the names of certain provincial governors, high-ranking officials and military commanders. regarding these agreements and railways in Asiatic Turkey.
