I am commanded by the Army Council to acknowledge
the receipt of your letter No.P.1095 dated the 6 th March,
regarding the new road from Bunder Abbas to Kerman.
I am to state that the Council, when they caused
their letter No.0162/269 (M.I.R.) of the 2nd January 1919
to be despatched, were not aware that the expenditure
necessary for the completion of the road would exceed
the original estima-tes by so great a margin as is indicated
in the Viceroy*s telegram of the 21st February, 1919.
Under the cireamstances, the Council are prepared
to concur in the action taken by the Government of India
in ordering work to cease upon the road. ^ ^ : o"
