I have the honour to refer to your letter
No. P.Z.4066/59, dated July 4th, and in reply to
confirm that Mr. Ball is a British subject and
that it is proposed that he should succeed
I Mr. Packer as the chief local representative of
Petroleum Development (Qatar) Ltd. for Qatar.
I should mention at the same time that,
whereas Mr. Packer has previously been the
Company ! s chief local representative in the
Trucial Coast A name used by Britain from the nineteenth century to 1971 to refer to the present-day United Arab Emirates. Principalities for which we hold
Concessions, we should be glad if, for the future,
Mr. B.H. Lermitte should be treated as occupying
this position.
Mr. Lermitte will remain as during the last
2 years based upon Bahrain, but with a house and
office at Dubai.
