Leaving the Julfa Telegraph Oitice at 9-30 a.m., we take a northerly direc
tion and pass through the lult’.i stro3ts, with a ditch and a row of trees and the
Indo-Europe m Telegraph line running down the right side and gardens and houses
on the left till '936 mile*, when the sir.‘els e:i l on tne right, and give place to open
cultivation. The willed gardens continue on tiie left (west) up t > T337 miles,
when the road iroes due east down tUe right b .nk of the Zavend *h rood. At
1'73 miles, the road again turns d ie north, crossing the Zayendeh rood by the
Ohahfir Bagh-i-lConeh bridge. Th» entire length of the bridge is 390 yards,
width of roadway 10 yards, and it has a paved ramp or causeway from either
end. The masonrv is good and in lepair ; there are 33 arches. The bridge ends
at 1*952 miles. Toe Indo-European Telegraph line runs along the top of the
left parapet of the bridge, which parapet is about 12 feet high. The Chahar
Bagh-i-Koneh is then ente ed, which is a fine avenue, about 50 yards broad,
with Chen or trees up its centre, and four tanks, respectively passed at 2*074,
2*20, 2*460 and 2*612 mile*. Chahar Bngh ends at 2*714 miles, when we turn
to the west to 2*992. Here, we again turn to the north, and passing through
itreets and houses to 3*051, hilt at the British Consulate, which is situated on
the north side of a joob or canal.

Quitting the Consulate, the roal goes almo-t d ie north and at *147 miles
passes an old Ma lrasseh or school on the right, the Telegraph line and a canal,
7 by 2 feet, being on the left. At *172, the G?ite of Dar Kooslik is passed through,
and we wind among streets nn6 small bazinrs till 1*020 miles, at which point an
exit is made by the Sarooch gate. Tho Indo-European Telegraph line crosses
to the left at 1*81 and goes otf to Gez. We are now traversing the suburbs of
Ispahan, and pass through the small 1 aziars at L 337 and 1*595 m les, while at
1*561 the monument of Kabr Agho is scan on the left, 20 feet off. The last gate
is passed through at 1*75, and at 2*617 miles the streets and houses end. At 2*617,
the Darwazeh Tokhcheh lies 20 yards to the right 'I his gate leids direct to
the Artillery Squire, anl the line would enter by it and go to the Chahar Bagh
Koneh bridge, thence to Julfa. A tall minaret is se *n 26 yards to the ri'lit at
2 913, while rhe Ihikooch Kliane’i, a brick building where the Governors of
Ispahan are wont to repair to receive Khnlats or Decorations sent to them by
the Shah, lies 150 yarls to the left. At 3*179, a streun of sweet water 5 ieet
by 1 is crossed, flowing west to east. Hoad still continues almost due »f.r^h.
