High Commissioner for Trans-Jordan
Jerusalem.
9th April, 1931 *
Sir,
I have the honour to refer to your
telegram No *89 of the 28th March, 1951» regarding
a raid alleged to have been carried out between the
4th and 9 th March, 1931 1 hy members of the Howeitat
and Sherarat tribes of Trans-Jordan against
Musaad el Faqir at Mashash,
2. The occurrence of this raid was reported
by the Arab Legion Intelligence officer on the
18th larch ( vide my telegram No*25 of the 20th March).
Having regard to the time necessarily taken
by the raiders to regain their camps I consider that
there is no justification for complaint by the Hejaz
Government on the ground of delay on the part of the
Trans-Jordan authorities in reporting the matter.
3 . I shall be glad if you will be so good as to
request the Hejas Government to instruct the complain
ants to report to Captain Glubb as early as possible
in order that they may identify their property and
have it restored to them.
A copy of this despatch has been forwarded
to His Majesty’s principal secretary of State for the
Colonies.
tfis Britannic Majesty’s
Minister,
Jedda.
I have, etc.,
