To the respected, the great, the noble, the best of friends, H. H. Shaikh
Sir Isa Bin Ali Alkhalifa, K. C. I. E., C. S. I., Ruler of Bahrein. After salutations
worthy of your noble position and the blessing of God for ever. I inform Your
Highness that your friend sent a copy of your letter about the appointment of
your son Shaikh Hamid, C. S. I., as an Assistant in the administration of your
affairs, to the noble head of the Gulf for the information of the great Government.
I have received the following telegram which it is my duty to inform you. And
there is no doubt that Your Highness will inform Shaikh Hamid.
COPY OF THE TELEGRAM.
“ The Indian Government for several years has officially and customarily
acknowledged Hamid Bin Shaikh Isa Bin Ali Alkhalifa, C. S. I., as an heir-apparent
and heir to the Ruler of Bahrein and a short time ago, the noble and the great All
Viceroy received him as an heir-apparent and conferred upon him the insignia
of C. S. I., as a destination and acknowledgment of his post. It is worthy of (and)
suitable for this person that he should be given in his charge the duties of assistance
and advice to Shaikh Isa, and he has the personal responsibility for the prosperity
and happiness of Bahrein. The new changes and alterations in the administration
of Bahrein for this are approved and every effort of the restoration of the present
condition to the past basis will never be accepted. Shaikh Hamid, C. S. I. for
this reason shall with great surety do his duties as an heir-apparent with diligence
and efforts and perfect confidence and shall render every assistance to H. H.
Shaikh Sir Isa. ”

you on my behalf that I wish for you long years with perfect health and great
happiness and affluence and I shall always be very glad to assist and advise their
Highnesses. All the members of your family who are dear to all also my friends.
