Commander Wilson was fortunately in a position to proceed
at once, being his own master as H.M.S. "Crocus 1 ' happened to
be the only ship in the Gul^i* at the moment. He accord
ingly left on 31st January and arrived early 1st February.

Islands, H.M.S."Crocus" could not have repelled a sudden
raid on the north-west comer of the main Island where
Budaiya is situated but he r presence did act as a deterrent,

that the British Navy was on the qui-vive assumed a quieter
demeanour, and did not attempt to raid. Accordingly
everything having been quiet for more than a week and the
wireless station repaired, H.&.S. "Crocus’ left Bahrin on
the 9th February.

having him turned back from Ojair, and was in other matters
assuming a less interfering attitude, I decided to send the
letter in the hope that it would give His Highness the im-
