Grateful if you would communicate following to
Kommander-in-Chief, East Indies Squadron with request
to instruct Senior Naval Ofiicer Ked Sea. Begins.
"Shaikh of Bahrain very grateful for offer of conve
yance by sloop from Aden to Jeddah and proposes to
arrive Aden by P. & 0. mail on 19th January 1938. Will
it be convenient to arrange transhipment to sloop and
departure for Jeddah same day? Shaikh is accompanied
by party of 18.
2. Shaikh has found it impossible to refuse invi
tation from Ibn Baud to be his guest on return journey
from Mecca to Bahrain travelling by easy stages, and
therefore regretfully declines offer of return passage
from Jeddah to Aden for which offer however he expresses
deepest gratitude." Ends.

The papers include: the decision to allow Shaikh Hamad to travel to Saudi Arabia aboard a Royal Navy ship (HMS Londonderry ); reports on the Shaikh's visit by HM Minister at Jedda (Sir Reader William Bullard); and a report on the Shaikh's passage on the Londonderry , with papers concerning a request for payment for the purchase of articles on board ship for the use of the Shaikh, June - July 1938.
