and Monde Hussain Zarghami has sent a Quran for Musavi to sigh
as a guarantee of his safety when he visits Behbahan for
discussions with the Persian authorities.
( 2 v). Malek Hansur has again been fishing in troubled waters
and is reported to have sent iTIarnasani sowars to the aid of
Zarghampur’s_supporters in Dil. This report is probably connected
with the activities of the relations of some of the children
murdered by i/ialek Mansur in July (see para 23 of the diary for
15th-31st July); they are reported to have taken up positions
astride the Jo dumbedan—Bashtroad with the intention of
looting all Basht Bawl -caravans.

Consular diaries detailing affairs in Ahwaz [Ahvāz], Persia [Iran]. The diaries were submitted on a fortnightly basis by the British Consul at Ahwaz, although for some periods they were submitted monthly. The diaries cover the period of the Second World War and the Anglo-Soviet occupation of Iran, beginning in August 1941. Subjects covered in the diaries include: the actions of the local Persian administration, including the movements of local Persian officials; the economic situation, including agricultural production, harvests, irrigation, food supply and prices; tribal affairs in the surrounding region, with frequent reference to the Bakhtiari, Kughilu (also spelt Kuh Galu) and Arab tribes, tribes in Luristan [Lorestān], and their relations with the Persian authorities; the movements of foreigners; internal security; public health; local politics and elections; communications, including roads and railways; meteorological observations; British interests, including the movements of British officials and British subjects; Soviet interests; propaganda and public opinion.
The file includes a divider, which gives a list of correspondence references contained in the file by year. This is placed at the back of the correspondence.
