Record of an interdepartmental meeting held at the
Foreign Office on the 24th April to consider the instructions
to he issued to the Senior Naval Officers in the Red Sea and
the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. , regarding the search by His Majesty's
ships of Arabian, Persian and Iraqi vessels for slaves and
arms.

Mr. Rendel said that the meeting had been called
at the request of the Admiralty to consider the question of
the revision of the existing instructions to the Officers
Commanding His Majesty's Ships in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. and the
Red Sea in regard to the search of native vessels. He
suggested that the Admiralty representatives should indicate
briefly the circumstances which had rendered the meeting
necessary.
The Admiralty representatives explained that the
present instructions, which were those existing before the
war, were now in some respects out of date, and, as a result
of an enquiry by the Senior Naval Officer in the
