life agree generally. Indeed, if Persia demurs, it
might be worth while going further to help her to save
her face„ For would it not serve our purpose almost
as well, and of course he much less unpalatable to
Persia, for Timourtache simply to write to the
Minister a letter implying, indirectly but unmistakably,
Persia"s recognition of the independent status of
Bahrein? Sort of thing we have in mind is a letter
expressing his regret that we have so far found
ourselves unable to render assistance over the
smuggling, and his hope that, in view of o^i
responsibilities arising out of our very special Treaty
relations with the State of Bahrein (Davlat-i-Bahrein),
wo shall be able to do more in this respect in future.
