The following are the leading papers.
Tehran telegram No.5 of 8th January (P.252).
paragraph 7 . M Minister of Court raised question
of British flag flying in unauthorised places on Persian
soil, e.g. at Bushire. I said that I was sure that
this point would be amicably settled”.
Tehran telegram ho.80 dated 14th FfthruanL
(P.1437/29) . "My telegram No.5, paragraph 7. Flag
at Bushire. Minister again raised the question. The
Resident had already told me that the sudden substitution
of Persian flag on removal of the flagstaff would react
on the Arab coast. I subsequently avoided giving any
promise that the flag would not be forced by hinting that
H.M.Gr. and Government of India might possibly consider,
in deference to Persian susceptibilities, transfer of
Resident from Persian territory. His Highness expressed
the greatest pleasure and said that this would be an act
of courtesy most highly appreciated by the Persian
Government. I said that the Resident was leaving for
India next week when he might have an opportunity ot
discussing the question..."
