I have been infoimed in strict confidence by-
British Adviser to Saudi Arabian Quarantine Administration
that cases of smallpox are being treated in local
hospital. They are not being isolated*
2. I have so far received no official information
from [grp.undec. ? Consular] authorities.
5, A few cases of smallpox are normal at the end of
the pilgrimage and it is unlikely that large scale
outbreak will follow.
Foreign Office please pass to Khartoum, Aden,
Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bahrein and Nairobi as
my telegrams Nos. 23, 25, 80, 81, 81 and 82 respectively.
[Repeated to Khartoum, Singapore and Bahrein.
Copy sent to Colonial Office for repetition to Aden,
Kuala Lumpur and Nairobi],
