9. Every applicant shall, before the licence is
granted, deposit, as security in respect of such licence,
a sum of Rs. 100 per square mile or part of a square
mile of the area covered by the licence, or shall give
security to a like amount.

shall be granted shall be one year or
such shorter term as the applicant may
