I am directed by Mr. Secretary Arnery to
acknowledge the receipt of your letter No .PI40 of the
6th of February, in regard to the revision of Aitchison’s
Treaties. ♦
2. In view of the request in your letter for an
early reply, Mr. Amery has not felt justified in
incurring the delay that would have been involved by
consultation with the Resident at Aden; but it seems to
him desirable that the proof should be referred to the
Resident at some stage in order that he may check the
statements which are made in regard to the present
Chiefs of the Aden Protectorate and in regard to the
extension of Zeidi occupation of the Protectorate. On
