NOTES ON PERSIAN SEISTAN.
Some time after this, Derweish Khan, Nahrui, was returning from
Tehran with an order from the Shah, that all their former lands, which
included Kimak, Sherifabad, and Shahristan; should be restored to the
Nahmis. The Hashmat-ul-Mulk pointed out to Ibrahim Ketehi the loss
this would entail for himself and the Gurgich tribe, and persuaded him,
with the aid of a few congenial spirits, to murder Derweish Khan at
Asbak near Tabbas.
Ibrahim Ketchi then returned to Seistan, where Mir Ma'asum was
Deputy Governor, and the latter hearing of his cousin Derweisli Khan’s murder,
had him imprisoned. Ibrahim escaped, however, and after spending some days
in the thick tamarisk jungle near Shahristan, gained the Afghan border.
It is related that he returned to Persian territory later, where he died from
poison accidentally given him by his wife*
The Gurgich tribe, of whom Naw r ab Khan, Katkhuda of Deh Ali Akbar,
is the present Chief, is said to number some 800 families, divided equally
between Persian and Afghan territory, and inhabit chiefly the district lying
between Kohak, Shahristan, and the JBand-i-Parian.

brother Khan Mohammed.

are the three younger sons. His second wife is the sister of Derweish Khan, head of the Jemalzais.

A confidential report on the Persian region of Seistan [Sistan]. The report was compiled by Captain Edward Abadie Plunkett, 1st Battalion (Lincoln Regiment), in the Intelligence Branch, Quarter-Master General's Department. The report was printed at the Office of the Superintendent of Government Printing, Calcutta, India, 1903.
The report contains information on geography, canal systems, communications, routes, climate, resources, ethnography, administration, agriculture, and local dialect. Included within the volume are the following:
- District tables for Miankangi, Pusht-I-Ab, Mahal-I-Nahrui, Mahal-I-Sharaki, and Sheb-I-Ab, with statistics on numbers of houses, ploughs, horses, oxen, sheep and goats, camels, and donkeys for each village in each district (folios 7-28)
- Genealogical tables for the various tribes in the region (folios 34-39)
- Vocabulary and useful phrases in the local dialect (folios 42-45)
- A map showing the cultivated areas of the region (folio 69).
