KUL-KUR
KUL (No. 1).—
A village of 120 houses in the north-west of Pusht-i-Ab, about 4J miles
from Nasratabad. Water is obtained from one of the many large canals
into which the Rud-i-Bunjar is divided, north of Deh Masti Khan, and
the village is surrounded by highly cultivated ground. Mullah Mehdi,
chief Mullah of Nasratabad, is the real owner of Kul, but an agent acts as
Katkhuda for him. The inhabitants are of the Kul, Suleimani, and
Tojagi clans.
Resources .—Eighteen ploughs of cultivated land, 13 horses, 40 cattle,
200 sheep and goats, and 80 donkeys.
KUNDARAK.—
These are the ruins of a large fortified town in the Mahal-i-Sharaki, said
to have been built by Malik Suliman ivhan, the last of the Kaianis who
possessed any considerable influence in Seistan. These ruins show that a
well-built town once existed, the outer wall being fortified with bastions
at regular intervals, with two large gates in the centre of the eastern and
western sides.
The ruins form an excellent landmark, and from the summit a fine view
is obtained.
KURKL—
A small village of 35 wattle-and-daub huts in the north of Miankangi,
belonging to the Mahal of Khamak.
Resources .—Two ploughs of cultivated land, 20 cattle, 340 sheep and
goats, and 15 donkeys.

A confidential report on the Persian region of Seistan [Sistan]. The report was compiled by Captain Edward Abadie Plunkett, 1st Battalion (Lincoln Regiment), in the Intelligence Branch, Quarter-Master General's Department. The report was printed at the Office of the Superintendent of Government Printing, Calcutta, India, 1903.
The report contains information on geography, canal systems, communications, routes, climate, resources, ethnography, administration, agriculture, and local dialect. Included within the volume are the following:
- District tables for Miankangi, Pusht-I-Ab, Mahal-I-Nahrui, Mahal-I-Sharaki, and Sheb-I-Ab, with statistics on numbers of houses, ploughs, horses, oxen, sheep and goats, camels, and donkeys for each village in each district (folios 7-28)
- Genealogical tables for the various tribes in the region (folios 34-39)
- Vocabulary and useful phrases in the local dialect (folios 42-45)
- A map showing the cultivated areas of the region (folio 69).
Part II of the report is a gazetteer (folios 46-65).
