The letter concerns command of the cruizers of the East India Company in the Gulf. It includes a request that the Government of Bombay From c. 1668-1858, the East India Company’s administration in the city of Bombay [Mumbai] and western India. From 1858-1947, a subdivision of the British Raj. It was responsible for British relations with the Gulf and Red Sea regions. revise current practice and make the commanders of such vessels subject to the orders of the Resident upon their arrival at Bushire.

Condition: The item has suffered from pest damage, which has resulted in a large hole in the fabric of the item. As a result, some of the text within the body of the letter has been obscured and is difficult to read. Parts of the signature and the address of the letter have also been slightly obscured, but it is still possible to make these out.
