Please see the attached statements prepared by the
Accountant General's Department. It seems probable from an
examination of these statements that the items £4776.15.6
and £3040 for "Flashing apparatus" for Little Quoin and
Tamb Island respectively include cost of the ironwork for

the towers - there is no other large item and moreover it
is unlikely that the limits would be sent out without the
towers which would be needed to make them operative; also
in Trinity House letter of 8th June 1912 they speak of the
"despatch of the lighthouse tower for Tamb Island for a

from T.H. With regard to the figure £5,100 for Little Quoin
mentioned in the Government of India's telegram and referred
to in the penultimate paragraph of the Political Department
Minute, it will be seen that this approximates very nearly
to the actual cost of "Flashing apparatus" plus freight
thereon (4777 + 310 = £5087). In the case of Tamb they
appear to have taken the original estimate in Trinity House
letter of 26th March 1912.
