1912 respectively; and letter to Foreign Office from India Office The department of the British Government to which the Government of India reported between 1858 and 1947. The successor to the Court of Directors. , enclosed
with Political Sect etary s letter to Secretary, Foreign Department, dated 1st
March 1912. The Treasury have agreed that, for the present, on the analogy
of tlie adjustment of cost of troops serving m Persia (vide Newmarch's letter
dated Uth March 1912 to Secretary of Finance Department, Military Finance
Branch), expenditure, both initial and recurring, on all three schemes should
be adjusted quarterly and currently. Quarterly statements of expenditure—
in anticipation of debits being raised in the Schedules of the Account Current
—should be forwarded to the Financial Secretary at this Office. In addition
to expenditure of current quarters, these statements should include all
expenditure not yet reported to me for adjustment as far as it can be ascer
tained. In your Foreign Department Letter dated 21th February last No 14
you have reported expenditure for 1911-12 as regards Lighting and Buoyage
and Survey schemes. With reference to the Wireless Telegraphy scheme, for
which I have had no statement of expenditure from you, a modification will
have to be made, in view of the above, in the procedure proposed in your Letter
dated Qth December last, No. 355 {Financial). The first statements should be
furnished to me as early as possible, the sums involved being of considerable
magnitude.
