Bahamas.
An Act (4 Wm. IV, c. 21), dated February 15th, 1834, was passed by the Colony of the
Bahamas entitled “ An Act Auxiliary to an Act of the Imperial Parliament, intituled ‘ An Act
for the Abolition of Slavery, etc. ’ . . .” This act declared in Section 1 that “ . . . all
c olonial laws [i.c., of the Bahamas], usages, acts of Assembly, ordinances and rules, of
whatsoever nature, and however established, so for as the same in any manner establish,
recognise, confirm, countenance or favour slavery, or are, or were intended for the regulation
of the same, or for the government, protection or punishment of slaves, as distinguished
from the other inhabitants of these islands, shall, on the said first day of August, in the
present year one thousand eight hundred and thirty-four, be, and the same shall remain
altogether repealed, and forever after cease to be of any authority, force or effect whatsoever
in this colony. . . .”
An Act (5Wm.IV,c.8)was passed on October 6th, 1834, amending the above-mentioned Act.
An Act (5 Wm. IV, c. ?) was passed on May 11th, 1835, explaining and (further) amending
Act 4 Wm. IV, c. 21.

The file contains the 'Note on certain enquiries made by the Committee [League of Nations Advisory Committee of Experts] relative to certain states in the Persian Gulf The historical term used to describe the body of water between the Arabian Peninsula and Iran. .'

Included in the volume (ff 94-135) is the League of Nations report 'Slavery: Report of the Advisory Committee of Experts - Fourth Session of the Committee' as well as the 'Fifth (extraordinary) session of the Committee (ff 166-231).'
