Dalbandin and thence inarched to Chagai, examining 1 en route the lands round
the Chappar hills and those to the south of the Lora Hamuu From Chagai,
1 made a rapid reeonnoissance of the Chagai Sarlat hills, selecting a route
thiough the hills, which, up to that time, had not been followed by anv
European. From Merui, I proceeded via tt.e caravan road to Amir Chah, and
inspected the posts lying between those thanas. At Amir Chah, I halted a
week to arrange for the more efficient protection of the road west of it.
From Amir Chah, I returned to Nushki and thence to Quetta.
24. In reporting on Chngai, I propose to follow the same procedure that I
adopted in dealing with Nushki and its resources, and to embody the result of
my investigations under the following headings :—
A. The tribes inhabiting Chagai.
B. Its land, water and revenue resources.
25. The Chagai district, irrespective of miscellaneous tomans 10,000 Persian dinars, or a gold coin of that value. , is inhabited
by thiee important clans, vis .:—•
I. Sinjeraui.
II. Saiyads.
III. Mamasani.
