KUNDAR—
f lhe site of mins in Seistan, 25 miles from Sehkhua, on the road to Bam.
These ruins are of great extent, and as late as 1872 the houses and walls
of sunburnt bricks were standing in an excellent state of preservation. The
place is said to have been abandoned about the year 1780. The ruined fort
of Kundar is situated to the west of the fort of Haozdar (q. v.) and
stands out alone in the plain. This fort is said to be smaller than that of
Haozdar and to have no ruined town near it.—(Goldsmid, C. E. Yate.)
KUNDARAK—
A dirty little hamlet 1 mile south of Nasratabad. It has 40 houses, round
which are some melon fields and corn cultivation. — [Bellew.)

KUSHK RUD—
A tributary of the Harud Rud ; is supposed to rise in the plain on the west
bank of the Erah Rud close to Tujk. It joins the Harud Rud uuder the
Atiskhama hills, before the river enters the Seistan basin. In November
1884 the bed was 300 yards wide, sloping gravel banks 15° to 30°, 30 to 50
feet high, and the bed was filled with grass of a good description.

A military report on the Seistan [Sistan] region of Persia, written by Captain J M Home. Printed at the Office of the Superintendent of Government Printing, Calcutta, India, 1902. The report contains a preface (folio 3), a glossary (folio 5), and chapters on geography, communications, fortresses, climate, resources, ethnography, history, administration, naval and military, politics, and strategical positions. Also included (folios 51-90) is a gazetteer of Seistan, arranged in alphabetical order. At the back of the report is a map showing the routes described in Appendix A (folio 91).
