According to the ethnographer Latham they are Kurds, and it will be
observed that Kurds are included as a section of the Nahrui tribe in the
Gazetteers, and that their appearance and manners, are Kurdish. They are
probably comparatively late arrivals in Makran. Greek writers do not
mention them, and their own traditions support the theory of their recent
occupation.— {Holdich.)
There are some Nahruis settled at Kuh-i- Hisaran near Nasratabad on the
north-western frontier of Sarhad (in Persian Baluchistan) bordering on the
Narmashir district and the Kerman desert. The number of Nahrui Baluch
families in Persian Seistan has, it is said, been increased to about 400 families
by further emigration from Afghan territory. All these families who are
now settled at Khwaja Ahmad and Jalalabad are under Sardar Leader of a tribe or a polity; also refers to a military rank or title given to a commander of an army or division. Saiad Khan.

Content: A military report on the Seistan [Sistan] region of Persia, written by Captain J M Home. Printed at the Office of the Superintendent of Government Printing, Calcutta, India, 1902. Also included (folios 51-90) is a gazetteer of Seistan, arranged in alphabetical order. At the back of the report is a map showing the routes described in Appendix A (folio 91).
