SADAKI.— , ,
A villao-e of 150 houses inhabited by the Sarbandi tribe, situated on the
Shela-i-Kafav Canal, possessing 12 ploughs of cultivable land. Government
revenue 180 kharwars of grain. There are 154 cattle, 500 sheep and goats

A large village between Jikaba and Nasratabad, and about 4 miles from
the former place. It contains some 300 houses without walls of fort, and
is surrounded by extensive cultivation.—( Goldsmid.)
SAFIDAWA—
A small spring of brackish but drinkable water, flowing from below, a
block of rock at tbe foot of a long low hill composed of saline earth with
sprinkling of stores. It is some 36 miles from Raoz-i-Gudar-i-Tard and 15
miles from Madeh. Firewood and camel-grazing obtainable, but no supplies.

S AlYAD
The name of a tribe of shikar it in Seistan. The tribe numbers from 100
to 150 families, and subsists almost entirely on netting. In winter they catch
wild fowl and in the summer fish. They pay a tax of a few krans for the
right of netting, which they easily make in ordinary year, as they enjoy a
monopoly of plying tutins, and consequently no caravan can pass to and fro
in flood season without employing them. — ((?. B. Yate.)
SANGAR-I-MIR ALAM KHAN— . ^ V1 0 . ,
A halting place on the direct road from Neh to Kobat-i-Kuh-i-Malik bian
vid Madeh, Safidawa, Poghi and Gumbad-i-Shela, It is about 38 miles
south-east of Safidawa {q. v.) and about 10 miles north-west of the Shela.
This place is so called because Mir Alam Khan, the late Chief of Kian,
threw up some earthworks and entrenched himself here in 1866 when he led
a Persian Army against Taj Muhammad, the independent ruler of Seistan,
who was taken prisoner to Teheran. There is nothing left of the San gars
or earthworks now with the exception of a few mounds and the ruins of a
mud wall which Mir Alam Khan had built round his camps.
Sangar-i-Mir Alam Khan is situated to the west of the inundations
opposite Kundar. During the inundations it is the usual halting place for
caravans, as water can be obtained from the inundations, and camel-graz-
inf and firewood are also procurable. The water at the edge of the inun
dations is brackish, but about a hundred yards from the bank, where it is
about 7 or 8 feet deep, it is quite fresh and sweet.
When water of the inundations has not reached Sangar-i-Mir AJam Khan,
halt should be made at some other place on the western bank of the Shela,
where water may be procurable from wells. Careful enquiries should be
made on this point before leaving the last stage on either side (north-west
or south-east) of the Shela, viz., Poghi or Mukki-Surkh; or Siah Abor Girdi
