taz karez to Nuskhi follows the Ghori for its entire length, and Binindi
might be made the first halting-place. The water-supply is, however
uncertain. In winter, if there has been an average amount of rain and
snow, it is often abundant; but in summer it is rarely found on the sur
face, though some might always be obtained by digging a couple of feet
in the bed of the nala. Below Binindi the channel of the Ghori begins
to be a regular defile, and the average wddth does not much exceed 100
yards. On the east are small rocky ranges enclosing narrow parallel
valleys or ravines. On the west are more lofty hills, part of the great
Sarlat range. 1 here are few paths across this range south of the Wali
pass, and none are good. The camping-ground at Binindi is a fiat on the
left (east) bank of the nala. It would accommodate a native battalion
pretty comfortably, and there is more ground below' on the opposite side.
Both are commanded by the heights bordering the pass; but the country
is Brahui and ordinarily quite safe. From Nushki up to this point it is
all the territory of Alam Khan Rakshani Sirdar Leader of a tribe or a polity; also refers to a military rank or title given to a commander of an army or division. of Nushki, but Sarpara,
Sasuli, and other Brahuis pasture in it during the spring and autumn.
Tamarisk is abundant, so that there is no lack of firewood, and camel- ^
grazing is tolerable in summer. No permanent habitations anywhere
near and all supplies must be carried. As a general rule, troops and
travellers taking this route would prefer to halt at Bara Khan karez
[vide 1 ishin Gazetteer M ) instead of lltaz karez^ and from thence make
^ one march of 16 miles to the Kaisar. [Maitland.)

BOG, BUG, or BOGAR.—Lat. 29 0 n'; Long. 6 i° 33 ' ; Elev.
A halting-place on the southern route between Robatand Saindak and
10 miles from Saindak on the road to Mirjawa. It is 27 miles from Robat
and is. on the Persian side of the Perso-Baluch boundary. Here
water issues from a few small springs on the northern side of a sandy
patch of ground. The water is good, but liable to dry up if there is no
rain. J r
Camping-ground. —Unlimited ; good.
Supplies. —Nil.
Fodder.-^" Drubh ” grass in large quantities.
CameUgrazing. —Good and abundant.

A spot on the river Mashkel, a few miles to the north of Mianrud,
where the sand has encroached on the river-bed and obliterated all trace

this point left the river-bed and took to the sand-hills on the left, the
reason of this being that the river-bed where wet forms dangerous

BOR KUH, or BORGHAR—.
A conical hill on the desert Mushki Chah, Duzghi, Amalaf road, about
