MHAKAKl DARMAN —Lat. 29 0 12'; Long. 65° 41' ; Elev.
A halting-place about 7 miles north-north-west of Mall post on the
road to Chandan Khan Band.
MIANBAZAR RIVER—
Rising in Khan Muhammad Kushta pass flows eastward and after
passing south of Lar Koh becomes known as the Lai river.
M 1 ANRUD—
An island in the Mashkel river about 92 miles from its junction with
the Dashtak Kaur.
It is formed by the bifurcation of the river. There is no running water
here j this ceases at a spot called Chekulu, 6 miles up the river, but there
are some good pools, kuel and camel forage are scarce, and there is no
grass. This is the fifth stage on the Mashkel route from Panjgur to the
Helmand. Another route, which is more direct, but more^ waterless,
strikes through the range north of Panjgur and follows the Tank nala
to within 15 miles of Bibi Lori ziaraty and it then takes a straight
north-westerly course to Mianrud. [MacGregor?)
M 1 RABAD—
A Sinjarani Baluch village on the right bank of the Helmand, about 6
miles below Bandar [q. v.). There are about 50 huts containing 280 inhabi
tants. The village possesses 250 cattle, 300 sheep and goats, 15 horses
and 10 camels. T he area under wheat was 250 acres, but many of the
cultivators were unable to do any cultivation, partly for want of water
and partly for want of seed. Last year (1902) the river was dry as far
up as Chahar Burjak from July 17th till September 23rd. This village
pays maliyat, whereas all the villages from Khwaja Ali down to Deh
Dost Muhammad are muaf. [ \i anliss j February igoj.)
MIR AHMAD NAWAR—
A depression in the sandy track 10 miles from Nushki on the road to
Band in North-West Baluchistan. Water sometimes collects here, but
when Captain Maitland visited it in August 1885 it was quite dry, as
were also the shallow wells in its bed, but water could be obtained by

The highest peak of the Koh-i-Sultan range, south-west of the nawar^
or former centre of volcanic activity.

The Mirjawa cultivation lies on the left bank of the Mirjawa stream in
the angle formed by the junction of the latter with the Dar-i-Giaban
nala* For the sake of clearness this may be called New Mirjawa.
