(<?) Water-supply. —At the site of the camp after rainfall water issues
from the bed of the nala. J he spot is marked by scrub of low bushes,
and the water is plentiful and good. In dry seasons pits must be sunk in
the bed of the nala, when water is found 4 feet below the surface.
(/) Fuel. —Plentiful in the Bedak nala near the site of the camp.
(g) Crasing.—Sufficient for a few camels on the plain north and
east of the trade route.
(b) Rations. —As for Amalaf station.

(e) Water-supply .—About 600 yards north-west of Maki bangalow.
Padagi spring, situated in the main nala, issues from the hills and crosses
the trade route. The general direction up the r,aja for about 2 m.lea
from the mouth is 220. 0 Thence, for about 200 yards, 140, and then winds
through a short narrow gorge. The direction from the upper end of the
gorge is 210° for about 600 yards, thence the general direction is 170,
till Padagi spring is reached, at about 2 \ miles from the short narrow
gorge above mentioned, or about 41 mi'es in all from the mouth The
f gradually narrows, till at the spring it ,s not more than abcut 20
yards wide, the spring issues from the bed of the nala^i
a grove of pidag trees. The water is plenti ul and at first sight appears
good, but requires, for long use, to be dist.lled To reach the
