Your telegram E'o.l of October 13th.
Up to the present I have included payments
formerly met from office allowance in my accounts sent to
Basra and have not drawn office allowance at all.
Government of India have neither definitely
sanctioned this procedure nor objected to it so far but
they have "presumed that" I would address Minister on the
subject. If procedure followed up to now is objected to
I will ask that office allowance may be granted to me at
the enhanced rate suggested to Minister from June 15th
1916 date on which I was actually appointed to Shiraz
Consulate, If procedure is objected to I would suggest
that office allowance be granted from beginning of present
quarter.
Addressed to Foreign Office, repeated to Basra
and Bushire.
