With reference to the letter from this department
No.K 10675/1101/234 of the 15th ultimo, relative to the office
allowance of the consulate at Shiraz, I am directed by the
Marquess Curzon of Ke dies ton to state, for the information of
the Secretary of State for India in Council, that the Lords
Commissioners of His Majesty*s Treasury have sanctioned the
increased allowance of forty two thousand three hundred krans
proposed with effect^ from the 1st July, subject to a review of
this allowance in one year's time in the light of conditions
then prevailing.
2. Their Lordships also sanction the charge of actual
expenses for the period January 1st 1922 to June 30th 1922.
In both cases sanction is given on the understanding that the
Government of India will bear a moiety of the charge. This
question was raised in Foreign Office letter No.1101/1101/234
of the 20th May last, to which no answer has yet been received,
and I am to request an early reply on this point.
