straw top to the roof not having been relaid for several years.
Similarly the walls round, the garden, which were re-plastered in 1921
on all bui* one side, this year reouire new thatch and mud to the
eaves and iop: is. not repaired, another rainy season or two would
^h-ing down the walls.
White Wood doors to the store-rooms, kitchen, servants quarters
have warped very greatly in the course of years, and will not now
shnu seoui ely: they have oecorae destitute of paint and an. unsightly,
ihe dooi to the armoury, containing the nscort arms and ammunition,
is far too flimsy to be safe.
Now that the South ~ersia Bi 3 _les Hospital has been done away with
and there is no Doctor attached to the Telegraph Department,
some sick-room provision in the Consulate is essential for this
large oscort and menial establishmeht • The men sleep three in a room,
and separate accommodation is thus necessary, particularly in view
oi inlectious diseases, a spare room, dark, now used for lumber and
opening into other rooms is available, but requires a door and window
being opened into the Consulate garden, the present doorspace closed,
and the latrine immediately in front of it removed and re-erected
next the existing End latrine elsewhere, as well as whitewashing etc.
The upper uowar escort stable (near the main Consulate building)
is in a precarious state owing to an arch cracking and wall sagging
under the weight of roof and the rain, a temporary buttress was
put up to ward off immediate dan er to the horses from a collapse
before the end of the rainy season. But the building is no longer
reliable and safe for valuable animals, and requires roof being
stripped and re-construction g:x well extra pillars. Part of the roof
ot the lower stable has rotted, and leaks badly.
•a small incinerator is xs&x required for stable and latrine
refuse (which has been left about the garden in most unsanitary
tashion). The tennis court will need the usual new top after the
rainy season. The wall outside the Main entrance to the Consulate
has been broken away at the base in course of years, and is very
unsightly.
