iisiith reierence to the letter from this department
' ho. h 1101/1101/334 of may 30th last, relative to the
adjustment of the Shiraz Consulate accounts, I am
directed "by the l.Iarquess Curzon of nedleston to state
for the information of the Secretary of state for India
in Council, that the lords Commissioners of His majesty's
Treasury have sanctioned the excess expenditure for the
period January 1st, 1920 to December 31st, 1921 but
require further details as to the circumstances which led
to the considerable excess both before and after January,
1920. fheir lordships have approved the proposal
contained in paragraph 8 of the above-mentioned despatch,
that the adjustment with the Government of India in
respect of expenditure prior to January, 1920 should be
made at the official rate of the rupee for the last day
of the Quarter following that in which expenditure was
incurred at the post.
